burning energy lightning up the sky
flickers piercing...
raindrops pouring...
Freedom in chaos - 
fascinating!
"Zeke!!! Zeke?"

I find him in the cellar,
hidden in a corner
between bikes, boxes and tools
sitting on an old mattress...

Wincing
hugging his knees
head buried in his arms
breathing fast...

"Zeke?"

His gaze ...
mysterious gypsy crystals - 
fear...

Toes curling
eyes wide open
cupping his ears
with his hands.

Stroking his back...
"you are not alone anymore, Zeke..."

He's leaning into the touch,
voice deep and low...

"Darkness,
Loneliness,
Desperation,
Crying, 
Shadows -
I can't touch away those memories, 
Casey...
Fears from childhood emerge...
it's a feeling of terror...
pain...
Thunder rumbling in my ears...
in my head...

Emotions flow.

We are sitting here for hours
snug and warm
until the thunderstorm becomes distant,
until he feels safe...

Looking up at me
drawing his lips softly to mine 
welcoming me
with fire and lightning in his eyes ...
this  sensual thunderstorm
he doesn't fear.

Ravening thunder rumbles

I'm hooked already! What a great line - it sounds like thunder. The dynamism of the language echoes the storm overhead. Again I could quote this whole thing back to you, because I really enjoyed the phrases, like

mysterious gypsy crystals, Freedom in chaos

We wonder why Zeke is so afraid. Does he fear the storm itself? Did something bad happen to him in childhood during a storm? But Casey is here and knows just how to hold him until the storm in his soul has passed. And then he's back ...

welcoming me
with fire and lightning in his eyes ...
this sensual thunderstorm
he doesn't fear.

Ooh wow, I love the combination of the pic and the poem! And I love the thunderstorm and how Casey tells Zeke that he is not alone anymore - and how in the end there is quite another thunderstorm... :) I hope that this experience will have cleansed things for Zeke. :)

You surprised me again. I thought it would be Casey who fears storms, but it's Zeke. And I loved the way Casey stayed with him, until the outside storm was replaced with an inside storm. Lovely.
