It's a birthday !!!

Happy Birthday my dear [livejournal.com profile] cookiefleck
I hope this day will be a special one, as special as you are.
Thank you so much for your friendship, my dear.
I wish you all the very best - joy, health, happiness, fun and lots of sunshine!

This little something is for you, I hope you'll like it

Title: "Hope"
Pairing: F/S
Rating: PG

You have been gone many years ago.

There are still your last words to me – only for me to hear.

They are haunting me, reassuring me, too.

“If you don’t know where to go, how to go on, Sam –

Remember the time we spent together.

Good times and not so good times.

Believe in miracles, believe in the truth,

Believe in dreams and never give up hope.

Our time will come, Sam.

Not yet.

You have your life to live,

To fulfil your task.

But do not forget

Memories are the land

You can’t be  expelled from.”

I still hear the sound of your voice,

sad

but hopeful, too.

I’m tired, Frodo.

I grew old.

I feel our time is close,

closer than you may know.

And when the last star falls from the sky –

I think of you.

My Frodo.

Lots of love and biggest birthday hugs,
Julchen

Wow, dear, I am just speechless. This is so beautiful and touching... melancholy but not sad. As I get older, I do think a lot about memories. They are priceless and often ours alone, and they keep alive all of the wonderful things we've experienced in our lives. Yet, we also need to look forward with hope to fully experience life, not just live in the past. Your poem captures that... within the wonderful context of Frodo and Sam, of course. I've always been very, very grateful to Tolkien for "giving" Sam a long and fruitful life capped by his final trip to (hopefully) reunite with Frodo. I love the character of Sam so much; it's all I would wish for him (and for any of us, if it could be true).

All of this is by way of saying "thank you" and that I am touched by your gift.
