julchen11: (Frodo reading)
I had a wonderful afternoon watching The Fellowship DVD.
And I have to say - my heart is still in the Shire. I couldn't ask for more.

Closing my eyes, I can see green hills, friendly smiles and laughter ... the Green Dragon and - of course - Frodo and Sam.
It's a world you feel welcome. ...

and I can see my friends. It's sooooo wonderful and I'm so happy!

Have a wonderful weekend! I'm thinking of you

Lots of Shire love and hobbity hugs
Julchen

the shire is the kind of place in which i would ADORE to live. i think, for once, i would actually feel calm and welcome. all the plants and the big sky, and the rolling green hills. all those woods to walk thru.

yeah, i could definitely live there. :)

Ahh, The Shire! *happy sigh*

May be we can meet each other tonight at the Green Dragon for some ale and gossip...

If I ever won a HUGE lottery, like millions and millions of bucks, I'd build an entire neighborhood of hobbit holes in a town near here, Worthington, Massachusetts. It's a beautiful hilltown with lush greenery, and is so secure and secluded. I'd invite anyone from my f-list to move in. Can you imagine that type of community? We'd have big movie nights watching the trilogy, whatever else... oh, to DREAMS!
*gives hobbity hugs*!!!

that sounds so fabulous!

Doesn't it?? I'd at least BUILD one, if I couldn't get a grouping of 'em. It'd be the most efficient housing evah, really. It's one of the most economical options; of course, the hobbits knew this and wanted to protect their earth, because they *rock*. :D

Bless you, darling!

The Shire= Shangrila.
How I wish all of us could live there in peace, sharing laughter with Frodo and Sam, and enjoying each other's company over pipeweed and ale!

Such a wonderful fantasy...
it makes me feel very happy...

*loving hobbity hugs*

Aw, Fellowship! Cool! We had Disney here with the boy. You know since I "love" Disney this much! :/

Oh, btw, I'm gonna email you soon.

*cuddles you madly*

Sorry for jumping in, but maybe this would be a thing you'd like?

It's in Oregon. Here:

Oh yea, just like that! An online friend of my husband's is actually building a "recreational" type of hobbit-hole-hotel complex, or something, in Texas. Man oh man, I'd love something like that... permanently!

Wow! That's cool! I'd like to have something like this too and actually there are lots of holes in the rocks here around in my area. I always wondered how the Hobbits got these cellars dry.

The thing in Oregon is nice, isn't it? You can still buy cottages and stuff there. It's just a financial question. :) But I think their Smial is just something to look at and no real house to live in.

Well like I'd said, a lot of underground homes are SO efficient when it comes to conserving energy and what not. I wouldn't doubt that after a while, the price you paid for it makes it absolutely worth it in savings. :) I'd love it.

Of course, since they are new built you can make them as efficient as possible. But you have always to remember this is no old Hippie or Amish community who live without electricity and use ponies instead cars. These houses look beautiful, but they have garages, washing machines and all the little modern helpers which people cannot live without today. So you pay only for round windows and doors. Otherwise you could buy a usual cottage with a certain history and rebuild it in your taste. You would pay the same price in the end, maybe a bit more, but you had an old house, something kinda grown in a way. I don't know, but I think that's important. Or at least it would be important for me if I could choose where I want to live.
I would like a real Hobbit community with all the flaws problems and hard work, but also with all the romantic and the natural beauty if I could get Frodo and Sam in it. :D

Oh yea, I know, lol! I wouldn't want to throw away my internetz, thas for sure. :D But it's the idea that it's so compact and insulated, that having to pay for heat or AC is next to nothing.
And every hobbit hole should come with it's own Frodo and Sam... say it loud and proud, girly!! ;)

And every hobbit hole should come with it's own Frodo and Sam

Yeah! That's so right! So let's start and make F/S clones for everyone interested! I tell you in the coldest winter nights you won't need a heating if you have them! You also would never notice that your computer is missing. And nothing compaires to a Smial in summer. It's storm safe and if you dig it high enough in the hill it's even flood safe too.
So when will we move there? ;)

Oh, I'm typing from the plane heading over.
*I freakin wish*
Everything is motioned, seconded, and passed. They await our arrival!

*sweeps the runway on the hill*
*waves to you*
I'm already here. There is a nice red fire in the kitchen, we have freshly baked bread and a thick, hot soup for dinner. F and S giggle only silly because they are a bit drunk already. But that makes the evening just more interesting.
*holds the torch a bit higher*

*huffs and puffs as she runs inside, carrying large suitcases* I'm here, what'd I miss, what'd I miss??
*sees the two cozy hobbits, giggling over glasses of Old Winyards* Oooh. I'm just in time.
*drops a large suitcase by them* Here you go, lads... have fun.
*they open the suitcase... and GASP!*

....?????
