This is so complex. I thought the first stanza might be the Ring, seductively whispering to Frodo about what it could do for him. But then I thought it might be Sam, or the memory of Sam, trying to comfort him.

"The place I'll always see is
YOU,
Sam."

I always think of Sam as the embodiment of the Shire, so it is perfect that Frodo should refer to him as a place, THE place of longing and contentment, home.
