I always was afraid to show my

Emotions

I never cried in public.

Not.a.single.tear.

No tears of anger and rage,

Not tears of grief

And certainly not

Tears of joy.

 

But I cried inside…

Not only the first time

last week…

Because of you …

It seems you can read me like an open book.

 

I don’t know how you’ve found out

‘The lonely parts don’t have

To be, Zeke’

You whispered last night.

For the first time

I couldn’t hold back the tears.

 

I realized

you love me for who I am,

you know and accept my past and

though

you’re not a part of it.

"Boys don’t cry"

That phrase might have been invented for Zeke. He has had to develop this tough exterior as armour and no weakness is allowed to show.

But I cried inside…

I think Zeke is only realising now how much his rebellion was from sadness and a cry for help. Only in contrast with feeling loved can he understand how desperately he was running from feeling unloveable.

Just be you. Simply you’

I can hear Casey whispering this to Zeke in the darkness, while he holds him. Maybe Zeke has just told him something painful from his childhood. And Casey is so accepting, so ready to deal with Zeke's meltdown. He knows what it is to feel loneliness and pain but he is undefeated and ready to offer that strength to Zeke. Only here can Zeke breakdown in safety and wash away the hurt of the past.

That's such an appropriate pic, too. The dew on the grass is like tears but the tiny blades are so strong to hold their heads up with such a weight.

Lovely as ever, Julchen. There are so many ways they can lend strength to each other!

Dew dros are amazing, right? If you look a little bit closer you'll see there's a rainbow in every single drop.

For my part Zeke is strong, but sometimes Casey is much stronger than he is...
It's crazy. While writing I can hear them both, I can picture them, too...

Oh. I love how you contrast between Zeke's tough exterior and his softer, more real interior feelings, and Casey's smaller, weaker-looking outside and that lionheart that he has.

This tells so much about Zeke's past, and the way he looked at strength before Casey came in and showed him what real strength is about. I love the picture you chose to illustrate this, sweetie. It's beautiful, like the poem.
