It's a wonderful Sunday word, isn't it?
So I scribbled a little bit , this is for our dear mews1945 
Just because ...

One of these days

 

Sunday afternoon…

Usually it’s just wonderful

resting and dreaming

being at home...

with you.

 

Today it’s one of these days

I feel sad

I feel lonely

I feel hurt.

You didn’t come –

Though I knew you wouldn’t come -
you told me why you won't make it  -

it tortures me.

 

I feel like a dead man

to sit in the silence

of my ghostly lover.

Vision shaved away –

taking the dead feeling …

stumbling back to life…

still struggling…

 

I have lunch at the little restaurant

you like so much.

An elderly man across from my table

reads yesterday’s newspaper.

There’s an empty seat

next to him …

as it is empty next to me.

 

Something blue flashes by.

Blue … like your eyes.

I close my eyes

and  now I can see you.

Your face is the light

I cannot leave…

I will not leave…

So I kiss your mouth

without touching …

dreaming…

smiling…

weeping…

 

I miss you, Casey.

*sniff* that is so sad. It is beautifully written. The man in another seat alone also. The blue of something flashing by and taking him to the memory of Casey's eyes.. oh.

I am so sad to think of Zeke alone on his Sunday afternoon. He goes out to a restaurant to feel less lonely and ends up feeling worse because of the old man and the empty seat. That's such a strong image that the man 'reads yesterday's newspaper', just very sad and reflective. It suggests he's poor and found the paper and that it doesn't matter much to him that it's yesterday's news. Maybe Zeke fears getting left behind like that or he just feels compassion for the man.

I like the phrases 'ghostly lover' (because Casey is with him in spirit) and 'vision shaved away', which is very striking, like a layer of delusion being stripped away.

I hope they are not kept apart by anything major and can be reunited soon.
