my dearest [livejournal.com profile] melanieathene !!!
I hope you had a wonderful day with all the things you love and you like!
May the coming year be one of your bests...

Lots of love and biggest hugs,
Julchen

Here's a little poem I've found ...

Afternoon on a Hill

I will be the gladdest thing
   Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
   And not pick one.

I will look at cliffs and clouds
   With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
   And the grass rise.

And when lights begin to show
   Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
   And then start down!

Edna St. Vincent Millay

What a lovely, gentle phrase.

I'm glad you liked it, my dear.

Why, one of our favourite Shire poets could have written that. I can hear Bilbo or Frodo singing it softly as he walks along. Thanks for posting it, Julchen. I'd never read it. :)

I totally agree! It could have been written by our favourite poet!
I'm so glad you liked it, dear! Edna St. Vincent Millay is a remarkable poet, I discovered her few years ago but this one is my absolutely favourite one.

Have a wonderful weekend, sunshine!

Love and hugs,
Julchen

Thank you! We have had sun for five days in a row. The snow is really melting. Of course it's only March, plenty of time for more spring snow storms. But I've got my fingers crossed!

Thanks for exposing us to Millay's poem!

Thank you, dear Julchen for a beautiful picture and an even more beautiful poem. I've never heard it before, but it has instantly become one of my favourites. It suits me perfectly. I never pick flowers, I prefer to watch them grow, and I have lost count of time a thousand times, happily wandering the paths of my shire.

Love and hugs,
Melanie

I've found it in one of my older collection of poetry and to me it sounded perfect for you! I'm so glad you liked it, sweetie and I hope you had a lovely day!

"happily wandering the paths of my shire" ...
Wait for me, Mel! I'm coming!

Love and tightest hugs,
Julchen

I can't imagine a more perfect poem. *hugs*

Of course I'll wait for you. I'll even pack a picnic lunch so we won't be hungry hobbits. Of course, we should probably wait till the weather warms up. It's pretty nippy outside right now :)
