Infinite

These solitary hills have been always dear to me.
Seated here, this sweet hedge, which blocks the distant horizon
opening inner silences and interminable distances.
I plunge in thought to where my heart, frightened, pulls back.
Like the wind which I hear tossing the trembling plants which surround me,
a voice from the inner depth of spirit shakes the certitudes of thought.
Eternity breaks through time,
past and present intermingle in her image.
In the inner shadows I lose myself,
drowning in the see-depths of timeless love.

(Giacomo Leopardi)

I love this poem sooo much.

Have a nice weekend my friends!

Love
Julchen

Awww, thank you for posting one of the most famous Italian poems here!

"Sempre caro mi fu quest'ermo colle ...", this is the original first line!

And it's just me, or the last line screams "Frodo and Sam love"?

I hope you're having a wonderful week end you too, hon! Mine is just perfect (friends, kitties and joy!)

*hugs you tight*

I love Leopardi's poems, I wish I could speak Italien. This language sounds so wonderful to me ...
And yes- the last line is absolutely crying for FRODO and SAM!
Your weekend sounds great and mine is absolutely lovely, too.
(friends, kitties, books, sofa, candles ...)
*hugs you right back*
