I think the true gardner is a lover of his flowers, not a critic of them.
I think the true gardner is the reverent servant of Nature, not her truculent, wife-beating master.
I think the true gardner, the older he grows, should more and more develop a humble, grateful and uncertain spirit.
(Reginald Farrer - Ini a Yorkshire Garden, 1909)

Today it was the first day I spent all afternoon in my little garden.
I'm so grateful. For every day, for everything.
Nature - everything in nature seems lyrical, don't you think so?
Nature speaks, Nature's peace will flow into us. We just have to let it happen.
I took some soil into my hands, it felt great.
Some people would say, it's cold, wet and dirty
I say - it doesn't feel warm yet, it will dry soon, it feels like flowers will come to bloom very soon.
It could be the same soil like in The Shire! The same color, the same smell.
Mother Nature is awakening, most of the time we are not patient enough, quiet enough to pay attention to this little wonder.

Now it's Froday night, millions  of tiny blinking eyes above me ...
They are silently calling us, so let's go for a little stargazing - you can be sure I'll take you with me.
Where you'll find me - you know it already. Yes, upon my roof, beneath the stars, close to you.

What a Froday!

Hopefully you'll have the most magical day !
Hope to see you soon!

nature. i... yeah.

i worship nature, you know. literally. i'm wiccan. so i GET this. a forest is my church. gerbera daisies are as sacred to me as any ancient scroll.

i kind of needed this after everything that happened in the last few days. it's so cold here. so very cold. snd i'm so empty right now. sometimes i wonder when spring (ostara, that's the wiccan word for it) will come again.

My dear hobbitcuddles,
your stopping by makes me glad - I know you have to go through a lot.
But you should simply know - you are NOT alone.

come, rest your sleepy head on my chest..
hear the beating of my heart, and i will put my arms around you.
they will be your security,
your promise.
time is standing still...if only for a while.
I never want this moment to end..
Right now - all i want is to remain here, with you,
to be here for you.

*hugs you very very tight*

you are very, very kind. and i thank you for that. i know, logically, that i'm not alone, but i can't help how it hurts sometimes. and it's funny how it will come and go. the oddest things remind you or hit you out of no where.

**hugs back very, very tight**

I'm glad you had such a beautiful day!

it feels like flowers will come to bloom very soon.

How lovely, Julchen. May I join you on the roof, breathing in the scent of spring and letting the gentle starlight bathe us in beauty?

Of course, my dear. Here ... take this blanket *snuggles closer* - look at the beautiful sky, full of stars and dreams.
Dreams of the Shire, you know? I'm sure you know, you can FEEL it!

That's lovely Julchen. it is finally starting to warm up here. Which is not to say it's warm, but I did do some walking today and I was thrilled. I hate it when I can't get out and walk. We also love to hike and stuff. We plan to go cross-country skiing this weekend for the first time this winter, so that should be nice. We take the kids to a field and ski along the edge of some woods by the river.

Thank you, my dear. It's wonderful knowing you around.

Skiing? All we could do this winter was to go for water skiing, LOL.
But it sounds so lovely, so take a warm jacket, warm socks ... this will do it. Enjoy your time, Cele!

Lovely Julchen in Samwise mode... bless you!

Mother Nature does wonderful things- if only governments all over this planet would pay more attention to her, and realise she's the wisest of all..

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, sweetheart- it's such a lovely start of my weekend!

Enjoy gazing at the stars- they're so amazing!!

*hugs you real tight*

Is there room for one more on your rooftop? Mine is still coated with snow. So I go for walks in the evening and I gaze up at the stars. LOL! I should keep my eyes on the ground, it's icy underfoot! But the stars call to me. They whisper of patience and peace. They promise that spring will come soon, in a blink of a cosmic eye... and I believe them. They haven't been wrong yet. :)

Date: 2007-02-16 10:29 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] julchen11.livejournal.com
Of course there's room for you ony my rooftop! come on, take a seat, take the blanket *offers hot chocolate* ... it's wonderful we don't have to dream alone, isn't it ? Your icon is simply perfect for this magical night.
You're so right, stars are calling us! A heaven full of stars over our heads, white and topaz, misty read. Myriads with beating hearts of fire ...Look- there's Sirius his blue light completes the loveliness of this night.

You sound like a true gardener, Julchen. It's great you live somewhere where the spring is early and the ground is already workable. Gives you more time to be in there. I loved the quote you posted, too.

Thank you, Metchild, for your lovely words. Oh yes, I can feel spring is near, I'm so looking forward to gardening. Just to be outside, enjoying air and sun. :-)

Reginald Farrer is very wise, not enough people respect nature, most think they should 'conquer' it. I'm glad to have a friend like you who loves nature as much as me :)

Isn't he? Whenever I'm reading poems of him I'm deeply touched, I'm glad you feel the same, sunshine! Nature - for me it's always magical and stunning. To see flowers, bushes, trees coming to live after winter, it's one of the greatest wonder of the world.

How I used to make, when as a child so young,
a daisy chain, by hands that were so neat,
And around my neck, it was so very carefully hung,
those blooms with sunny centres, so petite.

The pleasure was to me so charming and so fine,
and wandering through them was a joyful treat,
A sea of white, so startling, so refreshing, so divine,
like a feast of new laid snowflakes, 'neath my feet.

They may have been known only as just a simple flower,
and yet they shone with luminous resolve,
They carried neither, height, nor strength nor a mighty power,
and yet over thousands of years, they did evolve.

Such a carpet of pretty heads, that in them, I carefully knelt,
their faces beaming up, caused me to gaze,
Upon their display of perfection, such emotion then I felt,
that I'll love every Bellis Perennis, all my days.

(Ernestine Northover )

Have a wonderful weekend, Jack! :-)

The trees in my yard have been transformed into crystal works of art, glittering in the bright cold sunshine, stretching their limbs into the ice blue sky. My lilac bush is lying, prone in the snow, each little branch shrouded in ice, too heavy now to stand upright. And still it snows more; three inches, four inches on the top of the six inches that fell last Tuesday and an inch of ice delivered on Valentine's Day. So beautiful and so ruthlessly cold.

Spring, for me, is very far away.

Date: 2007-02-18 01:52 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] julchen11.livejournal.com
That sounds like a poem, my dear. Winter can be beautiful, too.
All covered innocent white ... what a sight!

I know what you mean! I always know when spring is coming, because I get the urge to be *outside* -- tending my tiny patch of dirt, turning the compost pile and baby-talking the earthworms, planting tomato seedlings and snap peas. That's usually the same weekend I get the urge to wash the winter jackets and bedding, air out the rooms, dust, sweep, bake bread -- I get very Mother-Goddessy for about 3-4 days. (Fortunately I leave it there, I have NO urge to have a baby or anything like that!)

And it's lovely to have fresh-picked peas in spring, and tomatoes in summer.

Date: 2007-02-18 01:54 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] julchen11.livejournal.com
Thank you, sweetie, for your wonderful reply. The urge to be outside - it becomes stronger and stronger, that's so true. I can feel this too - in spring time one can call me mop queen as well *giggles*
Peas in spring, tomatoes in summer, pumpkins a bit later ...
I can feel your love for nature, little gardner.
*huggles*

I think I have to get closer to nature more often. :)

But I can relate to that poem by being a writer. No writers will criticize something with a sole purpose to point out mistakes. They will all want to help others improve, hence the critics.

*hugs you*

Enjoy the stars!

Amen to this, sister!
I can tell you I always enjoy the stars. Many of them are above me, right now! One of it is the star, I picked for you!

This is lovely. You're absolutely right, most of the time we're not quiet enough to pay attention and it's so terribly important.

Thank you for reminding me how important it is to be grateful. You're a special lady.
