julchen11: (Frodo reading)
Finally I got MORE time for reading ...
I got more time for being here, for my friends !

I love what I found the past days, I really do ...

There must be a quote, just a second, ah... found it:

"Like dreaming, reading performs the prodigious task of carrying us off to other worlds.
But reading is not dreaming because books , unlike dreams, are subject to our will:
they envelop us in alternative realities only because we give them explicit permission to do so.
Books  are the dreams we would most like to have, and, like dreams, they have the power
to change consciousness, turning sadness to laughter and anxious introspection to the relaxed
contemplation of some other time and place."

I think we could replace "book" by stories and fan fictions ...
I didn't buy a novel for months because there's no need for it ... great authors can be found right HERE!

Lots of love, hugs and the sweetest of dreams

Julchen

A wonderful quotation, and so true. And I agree with you that some of the best writing being done today can be found here in LJ land.

Thank you, Julia. And yes, there are wonderful writers around and the best of all? They are our friends :-)

That's a lovely quote Julchen. I tend to read books rather than online fic (largely because I find more reading time when I am not at the computer - I can barely keep up with email, LJ, etc during my computer time as it is), but the sentiment is the same.

"but the sentiment is the same" ... That's so true. That's why I'm printing and printing and printing most of the wonderful posts. You should see your folder, full of limericks .. it's almost a book! :-)

A perfect quotation - I also have found so many great fics to read that the last 2 books I read were films Elijah was in - The Oxford Murders and Everything is Illuminated. So glad you have found time to read - isn't it wonderful!!

I couldn't survive without reading ...
The best of a book is not the thought which it contains,
but the thought which it suggests ...
Thank you, my dear, for your lovely words. *hugs tight*

Isn't it? Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake WITH books and FRIENDS like you!
Thank you, Lily! :-)

It's beautiful, and so true! I'm glad you got time for reading. I know I tend to become depressed when I haven't enough time to read.

Sweet dreams!:)

"I know I tend to become depressed when I haven't enough time to read."

Absolutely, same here, sweetie! Days without reading are horrible.
Sometimes you want to escape real life, you just want to listen to the words you are reading.

Thank you, Bagma, for stopping by. *hugs and snuggles*

"Books are the dreams we would most like to have" I adore books.. but i don't seem to have had much time just lately, which is a pity. You're so right Julchen...There are many many wonderful stories to be read right here, that i never seem to get away from the pc..
Can you recommend any good poetry. Just lately i seem to have a thirst for all things poetic!

"Can you recomment any good poetry"

OH yes, my dear! I'll send you a little list by mail and of course I'll send you some poems I collected.
Poetry can be so inspiring ... inspiring for "watching" as well as for "Dreaming".

The following one I picked up for you after your lovely email.

Beautiful

My eyes follow the brilliant words written
Each letter gracefully composing a masterpiece
The beauty of the flow, reminds me of a gentle stream on a mid summer’s day
Spell bound as if I am in a dream
Captivated by the thoughts you leave in my mind
Finding that you have touched my soul
Words used as finger tips
To console my void
Refreshing the inner being
Freeing the torment that laid within
Lightening the load that was placed upon my heart
A friend of words
Who has touched a stranger
Making life a bearable for one more day
For this I commend you
Allowing your writing to seize a heart

Love you a lot
Julchen
