Heavens, what a gorgeous poem, Julchen. I had never read it before. Now I'll have to go out and get a volume of Christina Rossetti. I don't think I've read anything of hers but the Goblin Market.

You know what I kept thinking of it as I read, besides Frodo, of course? Treebeard reciting the Song of the Entwives. In the EE of TTT he gets to speak some of it as he carries Merry and Pippin through the forest. It's a beautiful, wistful, longing sort of poem too.
