it seems some things will never change ...
"My father is black and my mother is white. Therefore, I could answer to either, which kind of makes me a racial Lone Ranger, caught between two communities."
Hope you're having a nice Sunday, f-list!
Love you and miss you a lot !

*sigh* My husband of nearly 30 years and I are of different races (me white, he Asian), and our sons have run into this nebulous zone. The schools have always classified them as Asian, because of their last name. I've never cared for this - not one little bit. What am I then, chopped liver?
Thus, at every chance I have had, I've put them in the Mixed Race category (or failing that, Declines To State). They are gloriously beautiful boys (not that I'm biased or anything - ;D), now 20 and 18 years old, and combine both my husband's and my looks. Not to mention my Norwegian background - since they are 6' 3" and 6' 4".
And which background do they associate with? The smartest choice, really, the mixed race one. Their friends are white, black, Asian, Latino, and every combination thereof. Perhaps we are lucky, for we live in southern California, where this is not uncommon.
It's the future, people. Get with the program. The sooner race turns into ethnic background, the better for our country, and the world, I daresay.
*gets off soapbox* Sorry to commandeer your journal like this, but as you can tell, this really strikes home for me.

So this cousin is like a black sheep in the family...Of course!!!!???
Well ,another cousin of mine, well she has married a half black half white man, adopted by a italian family. My cousin has had a son with him just one year ago...NOBODY in the family say anything against her or his black husband but the family is against the other cousin (who did the same)...
And do you know why? The younger cousin of mine, the second one has married a black man yes but he is a DOCTOR !!!So nobody is racist in this case,no one.The older cousin is poor and divorced. So she is the bad one...
So,what am I trying to tell in my poor English? Money is important.Race is not important...If you have money you can have all colours in your skin...it doesn't matter .But if you are poor, you can be white,black,asian,alien,whatever...you are nothing.
This is the way my mom's family in San Diego Ca thinks...
I saw this with my eyes...So,they are racist towards one cousin who married a poor black man and everything is okay with the other cousin because her black husband is rich.
Money!
